Black and White Photography Forever, Banzai!

I seem to love black and white photography for some strange reasons. I think about it and thought maybe it is because I was born in an era where color overtook the black and the white. Color tv, color photographs, color posters etc.. People no longer want to go back to the black and white days. All my childhood photos were in color, even as a baby. Even as I started out photography as a young girl, I was already fascinated by what the black and white world had had to offer.

And now, in the digital world of photography, black and white is conveniently within my grasp. Almost anything can be taken or converted to black and white. I love tweaking a black and white photo. A black and white photo has so much emotions and feelings in it. I can almost see a story unfolding behind each photograph.

Yet, black and white photography is so profound. It really brings you back to the very foundation of photography - light. Even if you want to tweak a photo, it has to be done right or you will lose the black and white factor.

Well, there is so much to learn about it and every photo taken/tweaked is a lesson learned. I love black and white.

It's been a while.
Everything has to be done, and can only be done, while DD is sleeping away. My angel...

Keep Shooting.

I think photographs are a great way to preserve precious memories. I love browsing through old photographs, often lost in thoughts as I recalled something wonderful, happy or funny. We might forget about certain things, but more often than not, your memories will be refreshed once you flipped through that photo album.

I can do this forever, shooting and reminiscing at the same time.

So keep shooting.

A Meaningful Project

Please protect the whales.

Location: Home
Equipped with: Canon 350D + kit lens (EF-S18 to 55mm f/3.5 - f/5.6 II) + Nissin Speedlite Di622
Date: 3 May 2010

I love whales and other cetaceans. So I thought, why don't I do something, like a project to create an awareness of the plight of the whales and other cetaceans? Although these photos do not address the plight and situation of the whales, nonetheless, I thought that certain things need to be taught at an early age. And as parents, we are responsible for it.

This is indeed a very sad picture for me.
Why?
Because I managed to cover up my husband, who is behind me, quite effortlessly.

"Hope to do a outdoor maternity shoot soon."

"All I can do in my writing is to stimulate a certain amount of thought, clarify some technical facts and date my work. But when I preach sharpness, brilliancy, scale, etc., I am just mouthing words, because no words can really describe those terms and qualities it takes the actual print to say, "here it is." - Ansel Adams"
